â Warrior Within (John Little on Bruce Lee).
The more authentic you are, the happier you are. The statistics are too significant to be coincidence.
The root cause of many of our struggles comes from living our lives according to the core values of others.
When you try to live up to some perfect image, your life becomes one big marketing and PR plan. Every choice, conversation, and action becomes artificial. Itâs a constant game of networking, manipulation, and pre-planned responses. There is no authenticity. There is no purity. There is no freedom.
You never get to be who you are, say what you mean, or do what you believe. That fakeness leads to resentment and frustration. Maybe not right away, but everyone eventually suffocates under a mask.
When youâre an open book, you eliminate the stress of trying to hide things. What should you say and what should you keep secret? It takes far too much energy to keep skeletons in the closet.
Sometimes the best way to help both yourself and those around you is just by being an open book, and authentically sharing your own personal journey and experiences â the good and the bad, the triumphs and the setbacks, the answers and the questions, the valuable lessons and the mistakes.
And above all else, follow your gut. You may be right sometimes; you may be wrong sometimes. But if you always do what you believe is right at that moment in time, you will never have any regrets.
We canât fight who we are in spirit, if we have any chance of being happy. Think about the times in your life when you are the most anxious, stressed out, and miserable. It is most likely when you are trying to be someone or something that you are not.
And honest expression leads to real connection. How can you make any true friends, or find true love, if the people around you donât even know who you really are? Some of these image projectors that seem to have the most in their lives are actually the loneliest people on the planet. How can you ever feel truly connected if you are playing a role?
3. Get the help you need vs. suffering by yourself
âDo not bear false attitudes. False attitudes work best where there are no enemies. In real situations, they can get you killed very quickly ⦠Think about being seen only by yourself and not through the eyes of others. Why would you want to appear as one thing and be another?â
